Development at East Anton

The Parish Council attended the Public Enquiry into the stopping
up and diversion of Smannell Road on 20th/21st July at The Lights in Andover. We presented our case for
keeping the existing road open and not sending heavy farm vehicles into the housing estate. There was a
considerable amount of preparation work involved in getting ready for the enquiry and I am most grateful for
the hard work of all the parish councillors and the very useful input we received from the farming community
to get our evidence ready and help us prepare our case.
It proved to be a fairly arduous event but we
were much assisted by the very good turnout and support from you all, for which we are much obliged. It always
helps to be able to demonstrate, through a good turnout, that our case is well supported by the members of the
local community. We hope that we have presented our case to the best of our ability and we are confident that we
will get fair treatment from the Inspector, although it is too early to predict the outcome. We understand that the
result of the enquiry will be announced in a couple of month's time by the Secretary of State, following the
submission of the Inspector's report. I will keep you advised when we know more.
The developments at Augusta Park continue apace
and the Parish Council continue to monitor the developments. The latest planning application to come through is for
plots F and G1, which are along the side of Smannell Road.
